Ride Questions:

1. Who can participate in the ride?
Anyone! We welcome riders of all ages and skill levels, families, and friends of AFCEA. 

2. Where does the ride start and end?
The ride starts and ends at Columbia Island Marina following the Mount Vernon Trail on the Potomac River. There are three turnaround points. The final turnaround point is Mount Vernon. Riders are encouraged to ride at your own pace. Check out our course map for exact coordinates. 

3. When and where do I pick up my ride packet?
Ride packets can be picked up the morning of the event starting at 6:00AM at Columbia Island Marina. 

4. Is there anywhere for me to store or check my belongings during the ride?
There will not be a secured storage area for personal belongings, so pack lightly or lock items in your car. 

5. Is there parking available?
There is surface parking available at Columbia Island Marina; the lot is also shared by Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Park. It is conveniently located just north of the 14th Street Bridge on the Virginia side of the river in the Pentagon Lagoon.

6. Are spectators allowed?
Yes! Spectators are welcome to cheer on riders.

9. Will the ride be timed?
No, the ride will not be timed. 

10. I can't ride, but I'd like to donate my time. How do I volunteer for the event?
Please contact the AFCEA Washington, DC Chapter Registrar to sign up to volunteer by emailing, registrar@dc.afceachapters.org

11. Cancellations
Registration fees are non-refundable, but they will go towards a great cause!

12. Race Rules
  • Entry fees are nonrefundable. No exceptions.
  • You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenge of any physical event.
  • You must show photo ID to receive your race number.
  • Race numbers are required to officially participate. Bibs will be provided at check-in.
  • Earbuds or headphones are permitted but it is not recommended. It is important that you are aware of your surroundings at all times. 
13. My company would like to show our support. How do we sponsor this great event?

Charity and Proceeds Questions:

1. Is my registration fee and/or sponsorship tax-deducitble?
All sponsorships, registrations and donations to support the Armed Forces Day STEM Ride are tax-deductible contributions. The AFCEA Washington, DC Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

2. What is AFCEA Washington, DC's tax ID number?

3. Where do the dollars go?
All proceeds will go towards STEM education programs supported by AFCEA DC. Since May 1989 AFCEA Washington, DC has awarded 360 scholarships totaling more than $2,300,000 to students from 112 area high schools going to 71 U.S. colleges.
