2019 Women in Medicine Symposium

WELCOME!

A Message from the Symposium Planning Committee

Please join us for the 2019 SCPMG Women in Medicine Symposium on June 28 and 29 in beautiful Dana Point at the Monarch Beach Resort.

The Women in Medicine Symposium aims to empower our female and male physician colleagues with the skills needed to promote an equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace and community, while fostering well-being, balance, and success in our lives.

This year’s symposium will continue to build on the previous years’ success and will once again spread over two days to allow opportunities for networking, expanded content, and interactive workshops featuring nationally renowned faculty.

The theme for the 2019 symposium will be Empower. Uplift. Thrive.  We will offer multiple tracks on various topics to support our diverse group’s interests and needs.  Topics include strategies to approach specific challenges that women physicians face, leadership skill-building, and self-care.  There is evidence that when men and women actively participate, we progress faster towards achieving gender equity goals.  Together, we strive to empower, uplift, and thrive as a group – renewing ourselves and our connection to each other and to the joy of medicine.  Last year, we highlighted the power and necessity of having our male allies present and be part of the conversation, both as attendees and speakers.  We encourage our male colleagues to attend this year and have created a program that will benefit all in attendance.

It has been an honor to serve on your planning committee; we continue to be amazed by the passion, love, and support shown by our Permanente community.  We cannot wait to reconnect with past attendees and we look forward to making lasting connections with newcomers this year.

We hope to see you in Dana Point!

"Attending the WIM Symposium significantly deepened my understanding of the aspirations of and challenges faced by our female colleagues. It helped me understand more concretely how I can be an ally to our WIM. I learned valuable insights that help me better support all our dedicated colleagues, female and male. It was also a lot of fun!"
