ABOUT ABM

The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), founded in 1995, is dedicated to the protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding. It is an international multi-specialty medical practitioner organisation, with more than 700 members from more than 58 countries.

Membership is available for all registered/licensed medical practitioners and dentists. ABM is a core partner of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action and is affiliated with the United Nations Department of Public Information. Annual conferences have been held in the US for more than 20 years and in 2019 the first international conference will be held in the United Kingdom. Regional conferences have also been held bi-annually in Europe for more than 10 years. This is the second time a regional conference has been held in the Australia/New Zealand region.

ABM's peer reviewed journal, Breastfeeding Medicine, published 6 times per year, is one of the many benefits of being a member of ABM. Access to a members-only listserv for those difficult breastfeeding queries, reduced conference registration fees, first and easy access to evidence-based protocols on 31 different breastfeeding topics and connections with doctors (and more recently dentists) with an interest in breastfeeding from all over the world are other advantages.

Find out more about ABM and how to join by visiting the website www.bfmed.org or follow us on Facebook. You may wish to join ABM before registering for the conference to receive discounted conference registration.
