Bio
Avery McCall is a 16 year old high school junior, human rights activist, blogger and model. After reading and being incredibly inspired by the book, Half the Sky, she decided to devote herself to making a difference for people in crisis, particularly girls and women, across the globe. Since then she been a Teen Advisor to the United Nations Foundation Girl Up Campaign, worked with an organization combatting sex trafficking in Southeast Asia, and has worked extensively with resettled refugees. She most recently joined the steering committee for the Women and Global Development Forum at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. She has given numerous speeches to large audiences of philanthropists, business leaders, authors, and humanitarians on subjects ranging from “Genocide and Humanitarian Intervention” to “Technology and the Empowerment of Isolated Demographics”. In addition, she authors a blog entitled Enlightened Global Voices, which seeks to educate and raise awareness around the humanitarian issues she cares so passionately about. Further, Avery is a top scholar and is attending the highly selective Stanford University Online High School.
