Bio
Max was bit by the social change bug when he took on big tobacco in 2002 with the American Legacy Foundation’s Truth Campaign. Max was part of the foundation’s speaker bureau, a small group that spoke at youth leadership conferences across the country, inspiring youth to self-organize anti-smoking advocacy efforts in the community. Max then spent 8+ years in the marketing and advertising world as a Digital Strategist, continuing his work on important issues while satisfying his natural curiosity for technology. He honed his strategy chops working on the 2010 Census, creating a national road tour to mobilize hard-to-count populations to mail back their Census form and returned to familiar territory with the Office of National Drug Control Policy, creating new media strategies for their ‘Above the Influence’ campaign. Prior to Purpose Max was VP of Digital Strategy at SS+K, His work included consulting on the DNC’s rebranding effort, building a movement to mainstream the adoption of electric vehicles with Chevy and creating a launch strategy for Vocativ, a new citizen journalism start-up. Outside of work Max stays busy exploring Brooklyn and working on pro-bono website design projects with the Taproot Foundation and as part of CUNY’s Digital Initiatives.
