Entrepreneur, Professor, Philanthropist
Marcia is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and former university professor in business and organizational development with thirty years experience in the high-tech industry. In her relatively short philanthropic career, Marcia has championed a successful constitutional challenge for young girls who have been raped and denied justice in Kenya. In her homeland of Canada she has also supported significant initiatives to address the disappearance and murder of hundreds of aboriginal women. Marcia is a founding member of a ground-breaking philanthropic and advocacy initiative implemented by PSI, catalyzing the next wave of social investors setting out to improve the health and rights of girls and women worldwide. Co-chaired by Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, this initiative is driving strategic investments that go beyond the checkbook by engaging the time and talents of philanthropists who have more than just their dollars to invest. In collaboration with PSI, Marcia is launching a transformative program to empower women entrepreneurs and strengthen health services in Honduras. Marcia is committed to encouraging other women to step forward and use their talents and resources to invest in improving the lives of women and girls.
