Title Minister Company National Development Council Bio Kuan Chung-Ming is currently Minister of the National Development Council. Prior to this
appointment, he was Minister of the Council for Economic Planning and Development, and before
that, Minister without Portfolio in the Executive Yuan. Between 2009 and 2012 Minister Kuan was a
National Taiwan University (NTU) Chair Professor in the Department of Finance. During this period,
he published numerous papers in top econometrics and statistics journals, and was an Associate
Editor for international journals such as Econometric Reviews, International Journal of Forecasting,
and Journal of Econometrics. Minister Kuan joined the Institute of Economics of Academia Sinica in
1999, where he served as a Research Fellow (1999-2004), Distinguished Research Fellow (2004-
2009), and the director of that institute (2001-2007). He was also elected as an Academician of
Academia Sinica in 2002. Prior to this he was a Professor in the Department of Economics of National
Taiwan University. Minister Kuan received his PhD in Economics from the University of California,
San Diego, in 1989. Following this he served as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor with
tenure in the Department of Economics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. |
