Bio
Laura Zax is the Social Innovation Manager at Harry's, a new brand of high-quality men’s shaving and grooming products sold directly to consumers online. She’s passionate about all of the ways that business can be leveraged for systemic social change. That passion drew her to Harry’s, where she developed and manages Harry's 1+1, Harry’s commitment to giving 1% of its sales and Harry's employees give 1% of their time to organizations that prepare people for personal and professional success. In just six months of the program, the small Harry’s team has committed over 500 hours in skills-based volunteering. Laura also co-created H'university, an online/on-campus educational program preparing college students for and connecting them to their first internships and jobs. In its beta semester, H’university gave over 300 students a behind-the-scenes look at 21st century careers and will expand its reach to over 2,000 students in the fall of 2014. Before coming to Harry’s, Laura worked at Ashoka, where she helped vet and select outstanding social innovators for Ashoka’s premier fellowship in social entrepreneurship. She is a recent New York transplant by way of her hometown Washington, DC, where she remains involved in the local music scene both as a co-founder of the DIY live music network Homestage and as a member of the band The Nighttime Adventure Society.
