Bio
Jessica Alba is an actress, activist, New York Times bestselling author, and entrepreneur. Although known throughout the world for her acting career, it is her role as a mom of two girls that inspired the launch of The Honest Company in January 2012. With a product line ranging from all natural and non-toxic personal care products for the entire family to diapers and wipes to household cleaning detergents and vitamins, The Honest Company (Honest.com) is a mission-driven company focused on giving children the best possible start, ensuring families’ well-being, and safeguarding the planet through sustainable business practices. Jessica also shares how to live naturally and true you in her New York Times bestselling book The Honest Life. In this colorful guide, Jessica writes about what she learned from her personal journey of launching The Honest Company, parenthood, and true trial-and-error — revealing her tips for making healthy living fun, real, and stylish (no tradeoffs!) and offering a candid look inside her home and daily life. And while the book offers the short cuts she wish she had as a new mom, she wants readers to use these as inspiration for finding what works for their family. Jessica is the current spokesperson for the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Coalition, joining leading public health experts and demanding that government leadership increase protections against toxic chemicals. In 2010, she was the global ambassador and co-chair for 1Goal with Queen Rania Abdullah of Jordan and Bono, an international campaign tied to the World Cup to provide education for all. She has been an avid supporter of several other non-profits including V-Day, Healthy Child Healthy World, Step Up Women’s Network, The Children’s Defense Fund, Declare Yourself and Voto Latino. Her passion for social justice, particularly for women and children, has led to several trips to Capitol Hill. She is currently on the board of directors of Baby2Baby, which supplies essential baby gear and clothing to families in need. Her passion for advocacy has carried over to The Honest Company, as it gives time, money, and product to non-profits like Baby2Baby, March of Dimes, and other organizations that address critical health and social issues and provide assistance to families in need. Among her many awards and honors, Jessica was named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business 2012, part of Vanity Fair's Next Establishment, Entrepreneur of the Year at the UK Glamour Women of the Year 2012 Awards, one of Fortune’s 10 Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs 2012, and the recipient of the Entertainment Media Association’s Green Parent Award and Mt. Sinai Children's Environmental Health Center Champion for Children Award.
