As Western Union’s vice president of social ventures, Talya Bosch is responsible for the company’s shared value, corporate responsibility and cause branding initiatives. In this role, Talya focuses on leveraging all of the company’s assets for greater business and social impact, including its products, operations and cause marketing programs. Her portfolio spans the 515,000 locations in the 200 countries where the company does business. She also manages stakeholder engagement and global thought leadership programs on issues material to the business and its customers. Talya helped conceive and implement Western Union’s Our World, Our Family® program, a five year, $50 million commitment to creating global economic opportunity. Since its inception in 2007, the program won numerous awards, including the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy Excellence Award, and touched more than five million lives. Talya also created Western Union’s Education for Better initiative, which will support one million days of school, move more than $1 billion in principal for education and provide $10,000 per day in education-related grant funding for 1,000 days. The new program was announced on the floor of the UN during Ban Ki-moon’s Education First launch in September 2012, as Western Union became a founding member of the Global Business Coalition for Education. Frequently quoted in a variety of media outlets, Talya serves as a regular speaker at a range of venues such as the Business Civic Leadership Center, Business for Social Responsibility, The Brookings Institution, and the Clinton Global Initiative, among others. She is a Fellow of the Salzburg Global Seminar and a member of the World Economic Forum working group on financial inclusion.
