Bio
Dr. Steven Warner is the chief scientist for the Federal and Defense Technologies division within Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector. In this role, he is responsible for the leadership and technical oversight of a broad range of technology strategy and investment activities, including promoting and managing independent and contract research and development investments. As chief scientist, Dr. Warner is also responsible for developing technical strategies to meet customer requirements, and for improving collaboration among Northrop Grumman’s technical leadership, its internal and external partners, academia and working groups. Dr. Warner has 33 years of experience in the information technology industry supporting and leading projects – often as chief engineer – that deliver enterprise solutions worldwide in scope. His technical expertise is focused in the areas of enterprise architecture, service-oriented architecture, cloud computing and data center technologies. In his 17 years with Northrop Grumman, Dr. Warner has served in a variety of roles, most recently as principal technologist in the former Civil Systems division. In 2012, he was the chairman of TechAmerica’s Public Sector Cloud Computing Committee. Dr. Warner has authored many whitepapers, briefings and publications, and has presented numerous seminars and courses. He is also the author of 16 reviewed articles in the areas of laboratory local area networks and analytical biochemistry. Dr. Warner has a Bachelor of Science from Eckerd College and a doctorate in biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is also a Microsoft-certified systems engineer.
