Michael Odgers was appointed Director Industry under the International and Industry Branch in February 2014. As Director Industry Michael is responsible for managing, coordinating and leading the Services’ engagement with Australian and International industry at a strategic level. This includes managing the relationship with key international bodies including the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Michael chairs a number of international fora, developing standards and best practices for the provision of passenger data, namely Passenger Name Record (PNR) and Advance Passenger Information (API). Over the past two years Michael has chaired the Joint Industry and Government Working Group which has developed the PNRGOV message as the new global standard for the provision of PNR data from airlines to governments. Michael actively supports the WCO API Contact Committee, ICAO Facilitation Panel, IATA Data Harmonisation Task Force and other Governments in the use of API and PNR.
