Randall Brugeaud was appointed as the Chief Technology Officer for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service in May 2013. Randall leads the delivery of technology capabilities across the Service and is accountable for ensuring the integrity of its enterprise systems and supporting functions including applications, infrastructure, communications and support.

Before joining the Service, Randall worked as the Chief Information Officer at ComSuper. He was responsible for all aspects of their information and technology environments and played a key role in organisational strategy and planning. He also forged new shared service arrangements with partner agencies and took a leading role in external supplier management and industry engagement.

Randall joined the Australian Taxation Office as a graduate in 1991, following two years working as a teacher, undertaking post-graduate studies and working as a freelance software developer specialising in expert systems. He worked with the Australian Taxation Office in a range of technical and leadership roles until early 1998. In March of 1998, Randall left the Australian Public Service to establish an IT consulting company which he ultimately ran for more than a decade. He was responsible for all aspects of the consulting practice and spent much of his direct consulting time working with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

While consulting to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Randall held senior roles in the establishment of their System for People and Global Systems Environment programs; he developed their ICT Strategic Plan and led the global deployment of their new visa and citizenship system in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In late 2008, Randall accepted a role with the Boston Consulting Group. In this role, he worked with more than twenty five organisations, focusing on ICT cost reduction, governance, sourcing strategy and change management. He was part of the team that received the BCG global value creation award in 2009.

In late 2010, Randall returned to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship as a senior executive. In this role, he led a group responsible for the development and support of their major Visa, Citizenship and Settlement systems. He also sponsored the establishment new satellite offices and facilitated major innovations in open sourcing.

Mr Brugeaud holds a Master of Business Administration degree, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Computing and a Bachelor of Education degree. He enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters and is a keen golfer and cyclist.
