Michael Eads is a professional with over 20 years of experience in the domains of trade policy, customs, excise and border management and information technology.  Through the course of his career Mr. Eads has gained first-hand experience in virtually all aspects of global trade, including: logistics, regulatory compliance, supply chain security, customs modernization and trade and customs related information technology (IT). In the latter part of his career, Mr. Eads has focused almost exclusively on IT related aspects within these domains providing functional and practical advice to solve complex business problems.  He has worked on numerous modernization and e-government solutions for cross border trade, including implementation of Customs IT systems, Single Window implementations and secure supply chains (track and trace, authentication). He has worked on high-profile customs modernization projects throughout the world and has also provided domain expertise to several leading systems integrators and solution providers.

Currently, Mr. Eads provides consultancy services to leading multinational companies as well as Governments and NGOs.  He is a frequent consultant to the development organizations on customs, excise and border issues.  Prior to establishing Sovereign Border Solutions, he served as Strategy Executive for Customs Modernization for the South African Revenue Service (SARS), where he was responsible for developing South Africa’s Customs modernization strategy and program. Mr. Eads has worked extensively in both developed and developing countries in Europe, Asia, Africa the Middle East and Latin America.  Mr. Eads received his B.A. in Political Science, from Ohio University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Johns Hopkins University.  He is a recipient of the World Customs Organization’s Meritorious Service Award.
