Bio

Originally from New York, Lance THOMPSON has lived abroad in France and Japan since 1992. He has completed a doctorate in social anthropology at the Sorbonne, an MBA in Paris specialized in International Business and customs matters and has been working for Conex as International Development Manager since 2005.

A major part of his responsibilities within Conex includes representing the company in international organizations such as the WCO, IATA, UN/CEFACT, etc. and advising on existing international standards and their implementation within Conex’s solutions. He also works very closely on all advanced electronic information systems being developed around the world.

He has been directly involved in many projects within UN/CEFACT including the recommendation project on Single Window Interoperability. He was chair of the revision of Recommendation 14 on “Authentication of Trade Documents” which was recently approved for publication. In 2013 he was nominated coordinator of the International Trade Procedures Domain where he promoted transparency and collaboration. Then in 2014 he was elected Vice-Chair of UN/CEFACT.
