Bio
Izhar Shay joined Canaan in 2005 and focuses on investments in Israel in the cloud, mobile, and digital media sectors. He currently serves on the boards of PrimeSense, LiveU, N-trig, Viewbix, and Call My Name. Before joining Canaan, Izhar spent 20 years as an entrepreneur in multiple technology companies. Most recently, Izhar was Chairman and CEO of V-Secure Technologies, a market leader in intrusion prevention, which was acquired by Radware (RDWR). Prior to that, Izhar was the CEO and co-founder of Business Layers, a Canaan portfolio company, which held a dominant position in the identity management market, and was acquired by Netegrity (NETE). Izhar was previously VP of Business Development with international investment firm The BRM Group. Izhar actively promotes Israeli high-tech through Start-Up Stadium, a digital platform that connects thousands of Israeli entrepreneurs and investors. He writes a weekly column at Globes, a leading financial daily newspaper in Israel, and recently published his first book, As Beautiful as You. Izhar also serves on the board of directors of Ort Israel, the country's largest technology education organization. Izhar holds a B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from the Technion Institute in Haifa, Israel. He was a paratrooper and officer in the Israeli army.
