David Newman is Senior Vice President and Strategic Planning Manager of Enterprise Architecture and IT Strategy at Wells Fargo Bank. David also chairs the Semantic Technology program for the Enterprise Data Management Council and is leading an industry-wide effort to develop semantic knowledge bases for the financial industry called the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO). FIBO is being developed as the next generation global financial data standard. FIBO can be used to support macro-prudential and institutional risk management, regulatory compliance and reporting, as well as risk analytics. At Wells Fargo, David provides leadership for enterprise architecture initiatives, including the identification of emerging technologies that will have positive impact upon Wells Fargo’s future business and technology. David also has a strong interest in the utilization of machine intelligence and predictive analytics for financial services. Prior to joining Wells six years ago, David was president of Technium Inc., a consulting firm specializing in enterprise architecture. David holds an MBA in Information Systems and an MSW in Psychiatric Social Work.
