Prof. Guillermo Sapiro, Co-Founder of Surgical Information Sciences, is the Edmund T. Pratt, Jr. School Professor at Duke University. Educated at the Technion and MIT, his area of research includes image processing, medical imaging, and machine learning. His image and video technology is being used in Adobe's leading products as well as in the NASA Mars Rovers. He is recipient of the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientist and Engineers (awarded by President Clinton), the National Science Foundation Career Award, the National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellowship, and the Helmholtz Test-of-Time Award for one of the most cited papers in computer vision.
