Shlomo Dovrat has over 30 years of recognized leadership in the hi-tech entrepreneurial and investment scene. He is a Co-Founder of the Viola Group and General Partner and Co-Founder of Carmel Ventures. Shlomo began his career as a hi-tech entrepreneur, served as CEO and Chairman of several leading hi-tech companies including Oshap and Tecnomatix, and led numerous successful IPOs and M&As. In 2000, Shlomo co-founded Carmel Ventures and the Viola Group. Shlomo led an investment and served as Chairman of ECI Telecom and led its strategic turnaround from 2002-2007, leading to its $1.25 billion acquisition. Shlomo also led Carmel’s investment in Wanova which was acquired by VMWare in 2012. Currently he serves on the boards of Outbrain, ironSource, Red Bend, cVidya, and eXelate. Shlomo is actively involved in various public and philanthropic fields and led the Israeli government task force for reform in education (the Dovrat Committee) from 2003-2005. Shlomo served as the Chairman of the Israel Democracy Institute from 2008-2012. In addition, he serves as the Chairman of the recently founded Aharon Institute for Economic Policy.
