Title Company Bio Lily Mah-Sen is a social activist with over 40 years of experience working with various development and social change organizations including CUSO, Peace Brigades International, and Oxfam. Her area of expertise is in using popular education methodology to empower people to social action. She has facilitated workshops in NE Thailand (Sustainable Development), Zimbabwe (Popular Education for Development), and community-based economic development workshops with Social Action Committees in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat. Lily has taught high school and worked on curriculum development in Papua New Guinea; taught English as a Second Language in a workplace program with immigrant women in Edmonton; and worked with the Edmonton Native Brotherhood on an inner city experimental film project. Her theatre experience includes working with playwrights on a social drama project and helping to organize the Canadian Theatre Festival in Edmonton. Within Amnesty, Lily has help shaped the Branch’s Cultural Diversification program, and has worked with the Diversity Committee of the International Executive Committee to create Section-wide adherence to Amnesty’s diversity policy. This work included facilitating a diversity session with Amnesty Section Chairs at the Chairs Forum in Portugal. With a Masters Degree in Management for the Non-Profit Sector from McGill University, Lily is currently a member of the Member Activism Team in Amnesty Canada responsible for Community Groups, Fieldworkers, Diversity, as well as providing support to regional and national membership meetings.
