Bio
Sonia Ferns (PhD, MEd, BEd, Diploma in Training and Assessment Systems) Sonia is the Science Curriculum Academic Lead in the Faculty of Science and Engineering and a Senior Curriculum Advisor for Curtin Learning and Teaching. She is also responsible for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) governance at the University. Previously she managed the Course Design team and led the WIL strategic project to establish an institutional framework for WIL at Curtin. She is a Curtin Academy Fellow and the national President of the Australian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN) Board, the peak body for WIL in Australia. Sonia has led many national projects on WIL and has published extensively on industry engagement and WIL. She developed a ‘WIL Partnership for Employability Framework’ from the most recent project, which explored collaborative partnerships for enhancing graduate employability. She also has expertise in curriculum development and assessment design and works collaboratively with an international consortium of WIL researchers.
