Gregory Davison is the Director of the Oorala Aboriginal Centre, University of New England. Gregory is a Wiradjuri man from Cowra, NSW. Throughout his career he has contributed to improved Aboriginal community outcomes through a range of roles in areas such as education, employment, health, custodial and criminal justice and child protection. Prior to coming to UNE he was the Manager of Aboriginal Health in the NSW custodial system where he led a team responsible for addressing gaps in services which includes transition support from custody to community for Aboriginal patients and established a very successful Aboriginal Inmate Close the Gap Health Service which was recognised with a NSW Aboriginal Health Award. Prior to that appointment he was the National Indigenous Engagement Officer for CSIRO where he promoted science to Indigenous people and their communities across Australia and linked Indigenous knowledge into these initiatives. He also delivered successful outcomes in expanding education opportunities to students in northern and central Australia remote Aboriginal communities. Additionally, he participated on the Lowitja Institute Advisory Group previously known as the CRC Aboriginal Health.
Currently at UNE, Gregory aims to improve the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student experiences and success. He is a member of the UNE Deans Group,the UNE Academic Board and the University’s Human Research Ethics Committee.
