Bio
Professor Bowman began his professional life as a radiographer. Along with his professional qualifications in this area, he also holds Masters Degrees in Politics and Business Administration and a PhD in clinical decision making. Since moving to Australia he has held senior positions at Charles Sturt University, the University of South Australia and James Cook University. In August 2009 he was appointed the Vice-Chancellor and President of CQUniversity Australia. Under his leadership CQUniversity is now ranked among the top 2%
of universities worldwide, and has the most extensive geographical footprint of any university in the country with more than 20 physical delivery sites across mainland Australia.

Professor Bowman also led CQUniversity through the successful 2014 merger with Central Queensland TAFE, making education history in Queensland, and together more than 175 years combined experience in the delivery of education and training, and establishing Queensland’s first truly comprehensive university.

CQUniversity is the only Australian university to be recognised as an accredited Changemaker campus by global social innovation group Ashoka U. Professor Bowman has a strong vision for social innovation at CQUniversity and is committed to ensuring principles of social innovation become embedded in the university’s culture and curriculum.
