Dr. Georgia Papathomas most recently was Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc., where she was responsible for driving the long term information technology (IT) strategy of the company and overseeing all IT services and operations. Prior to Boehringer Ingelheim, Dr. Papathomas worked for Pfizer, Inc. where she served as the Vice President of Global Customer Service Management, and as a member of the company's Corporate Information Technology (CIT) Executive Team. In that position, she was responsible for directing the global organization for account management, CRM, portfolio management and service management for CIT shared services. Prior to that role, Dr. Papathomas served as the Vice President of Global Infrastructure Transformation and the Vice President of Corporate IT for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), among other positions. One of her noted achievements included overseeing all of CIT's activities in EMEA, including the delivery of infrastructure services, the management of overall regional priorities, portfolio and suppliers, the development of CIT's strategy in Europe, as well as the European infrastructure integration between Pharmacia and Pfizer. Dr. Papathomas joined Pfizer from Pharmacia where she was responsible for Global Telecommunication Services. Her career also includes experience as the Vice President of Global Professional services for Lucent Technologies and as a research engineer at AT&T's Bell Laboratories where she performed basic and applied research in microelectronics, quantum dynamics, computer communications, signal processing, and acoustics. While at AT&T, she was given increasing roles of responsibility, including leading the Navy's Active Acoustics Surveillance Research Program, directing global operations of AT&T's High-Speed Data Services and leading architecture design and planning. Dr. Papathomas holds a BS in civil engineering, a MS in engineering mechanics as a Sloan Fellow, and a PhD in engineering science from Columbia University. She attended executive management and business training at both Harvard University and the Wharton School of Economics. She serves on numerous boards and committees, including the New York Academy of Science. An avid volunteer, she lives with her husband Thomas and their two children in Madison, NJ.
