Working long hours as the managing director of a large real estate office in New York City was preventing Miriam Steketee from achieving a healthy work life balance. Although the extra income was needed, Miriam wanted to be home more with her son and knew that her current situation wasn't going to work for her long-term. When a friend reached out to her about R+F, it seemed to be just the opportunity Miriam had been seeking. I was craving something outside the box and wanted to be a part of something creative and unique. She joined in 2011 and worked her R+F business 10-15 hours a week around her already busy schedule. The extra income meant her family no longer had to live paycheck to paycheck, and eventually she was able to devote all of her time to her Rodan + Fields business. Today, her husband Randall, an attorney, has been able to start his own law firm while Miriam runs her team as a RFx Circle Achiever. She prides herself on creating a team culture of collaboration and camaraderie, and enjoys the opportunities that naturally arise as a leader to coach Consultants along their own R+F Journey. Miriam advises new Consultants to push through the early business challenges they may face, noting that if it's hard, then you know you're working. Her advice to budding Rodan + Fields leaders is simple: Be gracious and be the leader you would want to follow.
