Dr Carina Kemp is the Director for Scientific Data in the Information, Communications and Technology Innovation and Services Branch at Geoscience Australia. She completed a BSc degree at the University of New South Wales, before undertaking BSc (Honours) at Sydney University and a PhD at the University of Sydney (2005) examining Borehole Radar applications in mining and ore delineation. Carina has worked in research, as a consultant and as a company geophysicist before joining Geoscience Australia in 2012 as a Senior Geophysicist within the Geophysics Acquisition and Processing Section. Carina’s main focus when working as a geophysicist at GA was utilising the National Computational Infrastructure supercomputer to map the mineral prospectively of Australia on a National scale using geophysical data. Carina has always had a passion for innovation in quantitative geoscience from enabling our data to open source tools and platforms like the Virtual Geophysics Laboratory. Carina is now the Director of Scientific Data at GA and is continuing her passion in innovation by working towards making all Geoscience Australia data open, discoverable and machine to machine readable.
