Policy Advisor
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment

Bio

Ema Hao’uli is a policy advisor at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). She's a recent BA/LLB(Hons) graduate from Auckland University, and is two years into her policy career.

In her current role, she gets to do cool stuff like representing New Zealand at the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Geneva in discussions on the protection of traditional knowledge — which she finds particularly interesting as a New Zealand-born Samoan/Tongan.

She likes her job so much that she likes to spend her spare time trying to convince Pasifika students to think about joining the public sector and working in policy.
