Todd Bowers currently serves as the Director of UberMilitary and as a Senior Manager on Uber’s public policy team based in Washington DC.

Before joining Uber, Bowers served as the Military and Veteran Affairs (MVA) Relationship Manager in the office of Global Philanthropy at JPMorgan Chase & Company. In this role, his responsibilities included ensuring that an effective philanthropic strategy was implemented firm wide to provide the most effective support to veterans and military families. He was responsible for a national portfolio of grants providing support to veteran and military families focusing on financial capability, economic development, workforce readiness, and affordable housing.

Before joining JPMorgan Chase & Co. Bowers worked as the Deputy Executive Director for the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). In this role he implemented membership outreach, external communications, donor cultivation, executive office development and organizational development. Prior to becoming Deputy Executive Director, Bowers served as Director of Government Affairs where he successfully advocated on behalf of IAVA’s membership to Congress and the Administration to pass and implement the Post-9/11 GI Bill and seven other legislative recommendations focusing on veteran’s health and employment issues. Before joining IAVA, Bowers worked with the Project on Government Oversight and the Office of Congressman Jim Kolbe.

Bowers served 12 years in the United State Marine Corps Reserve reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 2011. During his time in the Marine Corps he served two tours in Iraq, one tour in Afghanistan and tour in South America. His military honors include the Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with “V” device for Valor, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Presidential Unit Citation and Combat Action Ribbon (two awards).

Bowers has served as a member of the Pat Tillman Foundation Regional Screening Committee, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) Gala Leadership Committee and Mentor, Team Rubicon Region 3 volunteer, Team RWB (Red, White and Blue) volunteer and works closely with the Center for Second Service. Bowers is a former Awesome Foundation DC trustee and serves on the board of GWOT Memorial Foundation and the Armed Services Arts Partnership.

His work supporting veterans has been highlighted by the Washington Post, Men’s Health Magazine, The Christian Science Monitor, CNN, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, NPR, Bloomberg, Reuters and the Associated Press.
