Vanessa Garcia-Brito is the Senior Director for Communications and Partnerships for Global Community Impact at Nike, Incorporated. In this role, Vanessa sets the direction for Nike’s global partnerships and communications strategy for Nike’s focus on transforming communities through the power of sport. Vanessa joined Nike from Mars, Inc. where she was the global Head of Corporate Citizenship and Community Engagement, leading a team responsible for global programs and partnerships, sustainability communications, community and citizenship initiatives, and working with Mars shareholders in these areas. During her time with Mars, Vanessa held several other roles, including Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Global Food and Director of Corporate Affairs and Public Policy for Latin America. Prior to Mars, Vanessa was an attorney at Arent Fox, LLP in Washington, D.C., where she focused her practice in the areas of Technology and International Law. Her pro bono work for non-profit organizations and clients included capital punishment, extradition, tax, and intellectual property matters, amongst other areas. She also taught 'International Human Rights of Women' as an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University Law School. Vanessa holds a bachelors degree from Rutgers University and a JD from George Washington University Law School. She serves as the Chair of the Physical Activity Committee for the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry and sits on the Board of Girls, Inc., Pacific Northwest. Vanessa lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband who shares her love of adventure. She is also a distance runner who always has her yoga mat nearby.
