Michelle Martin leads Global Communications and Marketing for Qualcomm Wireless Reach, a strategic initiative that brings wireless technology to underserved communities globally. Wireless Reach invests in 100+ programs in 46 countries that foster entrepreneurship, aid in public safety, enhance the delivery of health care, enrich teaching and learning and improve environmental sustainability. In her role, Martin oversees all communications and marketing efforts for a global team, raising awareness of how mobile tech can achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. At the age of 23, Martin founded Karuna International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing global awareness and volunteerism among youth. Through a global service-learning program called My First Passport, underserved youth were given a global education course and scholarships to travel and volunteer abroad for the first time. Passionate about global development, Martin has spent time volunteering in Ghana, Brazil and Poland, and consulted for the governments of Liberia and Ghana, developing microfinance and sustainable business plans. With 20 years of experience, Martin is a seasoned communications professional who has worked across a wide range of industries, managing global media relations in-house and at boutique PR firms, garnering online, print and broadcast media coverage for her clients. In addition, she is a freelance writer who has published over 200 articles in outlets such as Entrepreneur, Newsweek and Vogue. Martin is currently pursuing a Certificate in Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship from Stanford. She holds a Master’s degree in Leadership and Nonprofit Management from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and Spanish from U.C. Santa Barbara.
