Julie Akhter is a patent attorney at Microsoft, supporting several product groups within the Office Product Group, including OneDrive SharePoint, Fast, Information Protection, and MileIQ. She solicits patentable ideas from business groups, advising them on their patent rights, and reviewing patent applications during their life cycle. While at Microsoft, Julie has also worked on the patent analysis team, and managed and onboarded patent engineers to support patent analysis projects. Prior to this role, Julie was a patent attorney at Morrison & Foerster in Silicon Valley. She has worked on a variety of IP projects: counseling clients on IP issues, drafting patent applications, working on projects for litigation and licensing, reviewing patents for acquisition opportunities and evaluating patent applications during the lifetime of the patent. Julie obtained her B.S. in Math with Computer Science at MIT, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School.
