University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign

Shriyaa is graduate student at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign working towards her PhD in Biophysics and is advised by Prof. Diwakar Shukla. She was a computer scientist but got blown away when she was first introduced to molecular biology and the Smith-Waterman algorithm in a bioinformatics class 4 years ago. Since then Shriyaa has been working on the periphery of computational biology. She studies the multidimensional dynamics of proteins and biomolecules via computational simulations. Apart from research, she paints (but does not draw) and has recently taken to learning the Latin language.
