Erica Snider is a staff Senior Scientist in the Scientific Computing Division at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia IL, where she has worked since 1998 on the frontiers of understanding the fundamental nature of matter and elementary forces through various high-energy physics experiments. Extracting physics from the large datasets generated by these experiments requires sophisticated software algorithms, and large computing/data management systems. During her tenure at Fermilab, Ms. Snider has led numerous projects in software and computing directed at simulating and reconstructing the details of sub-atomic particle interactions buried in these datasets. Most recently, Ms Snider is leading a unique collaboration to develop the pattern recognition software needed to interpret data from neutrino experiments in terms of physical objects and processes in order to reveal the properties of these elementary particles, and help explain some of the mysteries of the universe.
