Padma Raghavan is the Vice Provost for Research and Professor of Computer Science and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University. Prior to joining Vanderbilt in 2016, she served as the Associate Vice President for Research and Strategic Initiatives, as the founding Director of the Institute for CyberScience and Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Penn State. Raghavan specializes in high-performance computing with a focus on the scalability of algorithms that operate on very large data sets. Raghavan has supervised nearly fifty M.S and Ph.D, theses and authored over one hundred peer-reviewed publications and is very active in the profession, for example, currently serving on the Advisory Board of the CISE Directorate of the NSF, the National Academies Panel on Computational Sciences at the Army Research Laboratory, and chairing the technical program of the 2017 Supercomputing conference. She is a Fellow of the IEEE and received the NSF’s CAREER award.
