Helen H. Hu is a Professor and Co-Chair of the Computer Science department at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. She received her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Utah. Her current research interests include active learning pedagogies and broadening participation in computer science. She is the principal investigator for an AAC&U Teaching to Increase Diversity and Equity in STEM (TIDES) project to develop and disseminate Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) activities for CS courses for non-majors, and for a NSF project, IntroCS POGIL, to support Introductory CS instructors as they adopt POGIL pedagogies in their classes (http://IntroCSpogil.org). She was awarded the Governor's Medal for Science and Technology in 2014 for her work bringing the Exploring Computer Science course to over 100 Utah high schools.
