Elizabeth Bautista is the Manager of the Operations Technology Group at NERSC, a US Department of Energy Office of Science computational facility at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She shakes up traditional thinking in technology by hiring staff from diverse backgrounds, supports programs that involve women in STEM, champions staff retention policies, diversity and workforce development, and advocates for training the next generation of STEM professionals through hands on experience and practice. Bautista’s team ensures 24x7 accessibility, reliability, and security of high performance systems, data storage and the network that supports scientific research and collaboration with partners globally. She is a member of the Lab’s Diversity and Outreach Programs, advises and helps produce technical conferences for women and diversity, and manages NERSC’s internship program. She has a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and an M.B.A. in Technical Management from Golden Gate University.
