Ming Lin received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently the J. R. & L. S. Parker Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and an honorary Distinguished Professor (Yangtze Scholar) at Tsinghua University in China. She has received several honors and awards, including NSF Young Faculty Career Award in 1995, UNC Hettleman Award, IEEE VGTC VR Technical Achievement Award 2010, and 10 best paper awards. She is a Fellow of ACM, IEEE, and Eurographics. Her research interests include VR, computer graphics, robotics, and multimodal interaction. She has (co-)authored more than 250 refereed publications and co-edited/authored four books. She is former Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics. She is a member of the IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors and a member of Computing Research Association-Women Board of Directors.
