Dr. Ivelina Momcheva is the Mission Scientist at Data Science Office of the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, MD where she works on dusting the cobwebs off the archives of the Hubble Space Telescope and other space observatories and making them more accessible to the world. She also works on the data archive for the James Webb Space Telescope and other upcoming NASA missions. Dr. Momcheva received her B.S. in Physics from Sofia University and PhD in Astronomy from University of Arizona. She studies galaxy evolution and structure formation in the distant universe. She is a member of the Demographics Committee of the American Astronomical Society. She is passionate about increasing diversity in science and teaching astronomers how to code better.
