Cynthia Smith is an Enterprise Architect at Northwestern Mutual, where she has accountability for defining the company’s next generation cloud architecture and omni-channel digital platform. Cynthia has led multiple transformative efforts, including security simplification and redesign, moving client and field websites to the public cloud, and pioneering contributions to Open Source. She is passionate about advancing technology and sharing knowledge by leveraging and contributing to Open Source. In addition to acquiring deep technical expertise as a Java developer, Web Services engineer, Solution Lead and Application Architect, Cynthia has served in a variety of roles, including administrative assistant and managing a school-aged child care program. She earned a B.A. degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
