Anicia Peters is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Informatics at the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Anicia features in the twenty Who’s Who Namibia 2017 personalities and is one of 10 African Women in Technology Role Models. She got her undergraduate degrees at NUST in Namibia. Her Masters and PhD degrees in Human Computer Interaction are from Iowa State University under an International Fulbright Science & Technology Award and a Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Scholarship. She was a Google Anita Borg Scholar in 2012. While in the US, the family of four adopted two young girls from Namibia. Anicia started four student organizations in the US and served on several other. She is a co-founder of the ISU Womyn of Colour Network that received a Presidential Service Award in 2015. She also co-chaired the inaugural Africa HCI Conference (AfriCHI’16) and started the Namibia Women in Computing Society and ACM_W local chapter in 2016.
