Haley Thrapp is a software engineer at Yahoo where she has focused on big data for the last nine years. She has been using Pig on Hadoop for over five years to process Yahoos advertising data. While accuracy is a vital component of her work, she also looks for performance improvements and now trains Yahoo engineers on performance and efficiency as well as Pig unit testing. Ms. Thrapp is active in bringing others into the industry through computer science clubs and recruiting. When not working with computers, she enjoys tabletop games, particularly those that are of a strategic and cooperative nature.
