Joy is a staff software engineer on the Permissions team at Box, which is part of a larger team spearheading Box's shift to microservices. Specifically, her team is focusing on rewriting the permissions system (how we determine if a given user is able to perform a given action on a given object) outside of the monolith and striving to simplify the system in the process. Joy has been at Box for over 5 years and has worked on a variety of teams - from full stack to backend. She was one of the founding members of Box's Women in Tech group and is currently serving her second term as co-chair. Joy also blogs regularly about her experiences (medium.com/@jkebertz) - mostly, but not entirely, work related. When not at work, you'll find Joy running crazy distances.
