Bio
Sheila serves as Director of the Office of Digital within the Bureau of International Information Programs at the Department of State. Her team is responsible for managing the digital platform for our 200+ U.S. embassy websites and providing industry-leading digital tools to support the Department’s public affairs staff worldwide. Previously she was the Director of Digital Integration at the Peace Corps, where she coordinated innovative digital solutions to support 7,000 Volunteers overseas. For over 20 years Sheila has been an advocate for using digital communications across the federal government to provide better services to citizens. While at the U.S. General Services Administration, she led the Center for Excellence in Digital Government and the Federal Web Managers Council, helped develop the U.S. Digital Government Strategy, and spearheaded the .gov Reform Initiative to streamline federal websites. Earlier in her career, Sheila served as Peace Corps’ Deputy Chief of Staff and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, West Africa. She has degrees in French and Political Science from U.C. Berkeley.
