Bio
William Crowder is an active startup investor and entrepreneur. William has focused his investing activities on creating a more diverse and inclusive tech economy. Since 2012, he has led the Comcast Ventures Catalyst Fund, a $20 million fund designed to invest in entrepreneurs of color. William has led early investments for Comcast Ventures in several high growth companies including Cuyana, AptDeco, Partpic, and Maker’s Row. The Fund has been responsible for backing over 70 companies with diverse founding teams. While leading the Catalyst Fund, William was also a partner at Dreamit, a pre-seed venture firm and global startup accelerator where he advised over 100 upstart companies. Prior to joining Comcast, William was the founder of a strategy and business development company that specialized in guiding traditional media companies into the digital world. He formerly led strategic efforts at AOL, and was a consultant to many established companies including Thomson Reuters, Radio One, and IBM. William has been named one of the “Great People Spearheading Change in Tech Investment” by Silicon Republic and has been recognized as an “Inclusive Entrepreneurship Champion” by the Case Foundation. William holds an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, where he was an IBM research fellow. He currently resides near Philadelphia and is an aspiring amateur photographer.
