Title Chief Data Officer Company City of Los Angeles Bio Lilian Coral is the Chief Data Officer for the City of Los Angeles. Ms Coral joined the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, after having spent the previous 10+ years working on a wide range of health and human services issues as an advocate and executive leader. Having had the opportunity to work with labor unions, NGOs, foundations, and human service agencies at all levels of government, she felt inspired to apply her experience to re-thinking the way in which government uses data and technology to serve its citizens. Most recently, as the founding Director of 2–1–1 California, she led a network of 26 non-governmental organizations, available to over 33 million Californians. The most significant challenge faced was: transforming legacy systems into state-of-the-art services that leverage technology to improve the lives of the most under-privileged in our communities. 2–1–1 programs throughout the U.S.A. and Canada provide the public with information, assessment and linkages to a wide range of public and private community resources, health and human services, and disaster response assistance. Ms Coral hold a master’s degree in public policy from UCLA and is a native of Colombia, a place from where much of her inspiration for innovation and social justice emerged.
