Bio

I have over 30 years of experience in the business world, across diverse industries, including manufacturing, computer servicing, local government and the dairy industry. My roles have almost always involved administering the health and safety processes for the organisation for which I worked. In 2014 I commenced studies towards an Executive Master of Business Administration, which I have completed this year, by conducting research into the process of learning from incidents within a large New Zealand Dairy Farming Company. My interest in this topic was increased, when I attended a meeting with the Honorary Michael Woodhouse, Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety, at the Opiki Hall, where he asked local dairy farmers if 334 years lost time due to injury per year for six years running was an acceptable statistic and “as good as it gets”. That number raised the hairs on the back of my neck and I really want to be part of the solution and help to find a way to improve the number of injuries occurring in NZ’s primary industry sector.
