Bio
U.S. Army Sergeant Major Sedrick A. Banks (Retired) was nearly killed in August 2004 during a mortar round attack while deployed with Task Force 1/34 in Iraq. He miraculously survived, but sustained a traumatic brain injury, shattered hip, broken neck, and post-traumatic stress disorder, among other injuries. After many years spent recovering, Sedrick Banks continues to serve his country by devoting his post-military life to helping others. He is the President and Founder of The Genuine Life Institute, Coaching, Training, Consulting and Motivational Speaking. He now uses the skills and experience honed during his 20 years of military service in various Army leadership roles – U.S. Army Ranger, Instructor, Drill Sergeant, and Career Advisor – to help others discover and live into their true life purpose. He also spends his time helping to improve the circumstances of those who face hardship – including fellow wounded veterans and disadvantaged inner city youth – through volunteering for such organizations as The Mission Continues, Bread in the City, Inner City Outing, Team Rubicon and The Wounded Warrior Project.
