Bio
Professor Primrose Kurasha holds a PhD, MBA and BBS Hons degrees. She is a Full Professor. She is a qualified open and distance learning practitioner holding an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) practising certificate. She is the current Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zimbabwe Open University. She made history in 2001, when she was appointed the first female Pro Vice Chancellor in Zimbabwe at the Zimbabwe Open University responsible for Finance and Administration. Professor Kurasha broke her own record in 2003, becoming the first woman Vice Chancellor of a university in Zimbabwe. Professor Kurasha is the current Chairperson of the Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA), current President of the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) former Chairperson of the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA), former Chairperson of the Zimbabwe University Vice Chancellors Association (ZUVCA) and Executive Member of the SADC-ODL Project Steering Committee. She is also chairperson of the UNESCO-funded UNITWIN Project. As a scholar, Professor Kurasha has been invited to lecture in Santa Barbara California, New York in the USA, Hamburg in Germany, Potchefstroom in South Africa, Seoul in the Republic of Korea and many other countries. She is consultant for financial, manufacturing, educational and other organisations. A strong exponent of ODL, she has created linkages with institutions in Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, Israel, Malaysia, Hong Kong & China among others. Professor Kurasha has won many awards in the academic field including Top Vice Chancellor of the Year Award 2015, Outstanding Woman in Higher and Tertiary Education 2014, Outstanding Leadership in Higher and Tertiary Education Award 2015 and Leadership for Quality Management Award 2015. She is the reigning Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Business Woman of the Year 2015.
