Lead Consultant (Paediatrics)

Embrace Yorkshire & Humber Infant & Children’s Transport Service

After studying medicine at the University of Leeds I trained in paediatric intensive care, with a special interest in critical care transport, in Leeds, Liverpool and Sydney. It was while working in Australia for the New South Wales neonatal and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) in the late 90’s that I became convinced that a regionalised system of transport for critically ill children was an ideal model. For 8 years I led the PICU based transport service at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Between 2006 and 2009 I assisted in a project to develop a regional transport service for Yorkshire and the Humber resulting in the creation of Embrace the first joint neonatal and paediatric transport service in the UK. My other professional interests include simulation and clinical skills training. Outside work I enjoy spending time with my family, cycling and support Huddersfield Town.
