Kristin Campbell Reed leads Corporate and Employee Giving at Genentech, overseeing strategy and operations for charitable and philanthropic giving, employee volunteerism and matching and programs such as Futurelab, Genentech’s STEM education intiative in South San Francisco. Before assuming her current role, Kristin led Genentech’s Patient Advocacy Relations team, where she helped create Genentech’s blueprint for combined Roche/Genentech advocacy efforts in the U.S. Prior to joining Genentech, Kristin spent 10 years as an award-winning health journalist, writing for Bloomberg News. At varying points during her career, she covered nearly all aspects of healthcare. Among other achievements, Kristin launched Bloomberg’s science writing group, served as deputy editor in charge of all U.S. health coverage, and was named a “Top 30 Under 30” business writer by NewsBios. Early in her professional career, Kristin worked as a teacher and a crew coach, at England’s Marlborough College and Georgetown University, respectively. Kristin’s volunteer work has included serving on the Boards of Directors for the Education Network to Advance Cancer Clinical Trials and the Bay Area Cancer Support Community. Most recently, Kristin served on the external Steering Committee for Stand Up 2 Cancer’s Emperor Science Awards, a nationwide competition that will support high school students interested in STEM. Kristin holds a BA in English from the University of Virginia. She is a NCAA gold medalist for crew, and also rowed for the U.S. national team. Originally from Colorado, Kristin lives in San Francisco with her husband and daughter.
